Until now, Carignan was regarded as an old and boring grape variety. In the spirit of the "Specialties" line, Santa Carolina has found a small vineyard in Cauquenes -a historical site- with 60 to 80 years old vines, producing a highly complex and unusual wine. Irrigation is not required due to the advanced development of the vines root system and the autumn rain provides enough water reserves for the long Chilean summer when the swarm sun brings the grapes to optimum ripeness.
